Immortals (Runes Series Book #2) By Ednah Walters

Immortals
Ednah Walters
Publication date: August 5,2013
Genre: YA Paranormal Romance

Synopsis:
Nothing can stop Raine Cooper when she wants something…

Raine finally knows that her gorgeous neighbor, Torin St. James, is a legend straight out of Norse mythology but that doesn’t stop her from falling hard for him. Torin is crazy about Raine too, breaking the one rule he lives by: Never fall for a mortal. The problem is he no longer remembers her or that she saved him by making a deal with Norns—Norse destiny deities—the same Norns who have now erased his memories of their past together to punish her.

So Raine comes up with a plan...

She will make Torin forget his one rule a second time and fall in love with her all over again. But before Raine can put her plan into action, the Norns return. This time, they demand she protects Eirik Seville, her best friend since childhood, from an evil so dark even the Norns are scared.

But you know what they say about well-laid plans…

Caught between protecting Eirik and convincing the stubborn, cocky Torin St. James that the two of them are meant to be together, Raine's life slowly unravels. Friendships are tested. Enemies become allies. Desperate, Raine makes choices that could not only tear her and Torin further apart, but lead to the destruction of everything and everyone she loves. Release Date: August 5th 2013 by Firetrail Publishing.

Norma Jean Blog Tour: Review Of Norma Jean By Amanda Heath And A Giveaway

Mrs. Potter’s Book Publicity Services Presents

A Month Long Blog Tour For:

Norma Jean

By: Amanda Heath

Blurb:

The night Chance Duncan drunkenly kissed me on his couch, I vowed my revenge. I finally had something over his head, something that would bring him to his knees. It only served him right. He bullied me for years and turned me into this messed up person I am now.

Though I didn’t know at the time he wasn’t that mean little boy anymore. He was almost a man and easily stole my breath away. I just wanted to make him fall in love with me, then break his heart into a million pieces. Just the way mine was. Instead he put the pieces back together and I started to feel whole again.

Good things never last. He did what I was supposed to do. Broke my already fragile heart all over again. Betrayed and alone I fled my home town and started a new life where I wasn’t in the shadow of what I did.

Now he is back and trying to worm his way into my heart, again. Though he will never know it will always belong to him. He hurt me and I want nothing to do with him. Life has other plans. Doesn’t it always?

He doesn’t know though. Doesn’t know what I’m hiding or who I’m hiding from. I never thought I would see Chance again and I’m afraid that he’ll get hurt getting mixed up in my mess. Though he is right in the middle of it, without even knowing it. I have to find a way for us to get out, before somebody dies.

My name is Norma Jean and this isn’t a fairytale.

*This title is a new adult novel and not for those under 18 for sexual content and subject matter.*

**At the bottom of this post please enter the giveaway for your chance to win:**

**e-Copy of "Norma Jean"

When I first heard about Norma Jean I knew it was a book I wanted to read. I knew it would be a departure from what I normally read but since I like a wide variety of book genres and this story spoke to me I figured I would give it a try. I am so glad that I did. Amanda Heath has written an amazing tragic story that didn't back down from displaying the harsh reality of just how cruel life and people can really be.

Norma Jean, in her tween years, was the butt of every cruel taunt and joke that Chance Duncan could think of. He tormented her so thoroughly that he scared Norma Jean emotionally for the rest of her life. When an opportunity presented itself one night, by way of a drunken kiss by Chance when she was baby sitting his niece, Norma hatched a plan to extract her revenge on Chance Duncan once and for all.

Chance Duncan came from a troubled home life. He will forever be haunted by the fact that his father cheated on his mother, in their home, especially because his father knew that he and his sister where home at the time and just didn't care enough to even try and hide it from them. This started Chance down the road to shutting down emotionally and deflecting his pain onto someone else, namely Norma Jean.

With one drunken kiss, Norma Jean and Chance's lives changed FOREVER. Norma wanted to hurt Chance and he in turn wanted to right his wrong with Norma Jean and have a real life with her. But like all things good and not so good their intentions never go the way they planned. Norma ends up falling in love with Chance only to have her heart ripped out again and he gets told  by the woman he loves, via her diary, that her love was just a cruel revenge plot to bring him to his knees.

What they don't realize is that they are just pawns on a chessboard for a dark and sinister force who will stop at nothing to get what they want and happily ruin their lives in the process.

I could tell you more about it but in doing so, I would ruin this fantastic story for everyone and trust me when I tell you that what I have said is only a tiny tip of a HUGE iceberg. Amanda had me so invested in this story it brought me to tears and I LOVED every second of it. I feel that this book is relateable to everyone in some form or another. On a scale from 1-10 I give Norma Jean a great big 10. It touched my soul in a way that no other book ever has. If you are looking for a story that has characters with real human flaws, raw emotions, insurmountable odds, or just one heck of a book than I encourage EVERY adult 18+ to pick up a copy of Norma Jean and let them tell you their tragic tale of woe in their own words.

Runes by Ednah Walters
Publication date: May 20th 2013
Genre: YA Paranormal Romance

Blurb:

Seventeen-year-old Raine Cooper has enough on her plate dealing with her father’s disappearance, her mother’s erratic behavior and the possibility of her boyfriend relocating. The last thing she needs is Torin St. James—a mysterious new neighbor with a wicked smile and uncanny way of reading her.

Raine is drawn to Torin’s dark sexiness against her better judgment, until he saves her life with weird marks and she realizes he is different. But by healing her, Torin changes something inside Raine. Now she can’t stop thinking about him. Half the time, she’s not sure whether to fall into his arms or run.

Scared, she sets out to find out what Torin is. But the closer she gets to the truth the more she uncovers something sinister about Torin. What Torin is goes back to an ancient mythology and Raine is somehow part of it. Not only is she and her friends in danger, she must choose a side, but the wrong choice will cost Raine her life.

I have been a BIG fan of Ednah Walters since the very first book in her Guardian Legacy Series. I thought it was amazing. I have also read her Fitzgerald Series written as E.B. Walters, although I loved it, I felt it could not top the first series of hers I read. BUT all that changed when I read Runes. It is such a PHENOMENAL book I just couldn't put it down but at the same time I was trying to prolong it because I didn't want it to end. For the first time EVER I didn't know what to do with myself when I finished this book. I was literally counting down the days til part 2 came out and wondering if I could last til then....lol.

Lorraine "Raine" Cooper seemingly has it all, a great best friend named Cora Jemison, an unofficial boyfriend named Eirik Seville (childhood friend who used to live next door), an eclectic mother, and a doting father (until he went missing). That is all about to change with the arrival of Torin St. James. An oh so dreamy bad boy type with electric blue eyes. With the summer winding down Raine is getting ready to rejoin the swim team with the rest of her friends until Torin changes the course of Raine's life forever.

Soon left with more questions then answers Raine sets out to learn who and what Torin is so she can get back to her life and her boyfriend whom she has always wanted, although, even that she isn't sure about anymore. With Torin always showing up and "helping" her and with weird new students who keep popping up all the time Raine starts to question her sanity, her fate, magic, and if she can really take Torin at his word and truly trust him to help save her life, her friends, and the lives of the swim team.

I am so trying not to say the wrong things and ruin this book for anyone. Trust me, in my opinion, this is one book you do not want ruined. To me, Runes is a MUST read for EVERYONE in 2013. Ednah has totally blown me away with her ability to suck me in and leave me wanting for more. Like I said before I have been a BIG fan of hers for a while but now if she wrote an auto repair manual I would read it. That is how FANTASTIC I think her and her writing is. On a scale from 1-10 I give Runes (Runes Series Book #1) an ENORMOUS 20. Yes, it is off my scale but that is a testament to how amazing I think this book is. If you are a fan of true love, destiny, mythical beings, or are just looking for the best book out there (in my opinion) then I encourage EVERYONE to run (not walk) out and pick yourself up a copy of this book. Help Raine discover Torin's secrets and save the lives of everyone she cares about.

AND NOW FOR AN EXCERPT FROM CHAPTER 1 IN TORIN'S POV:

She frowned, her chin lifting. “He doesn’t always come here after school, you know. You could try his house or text him.”

Nice comeback. “If I wanted to use modern technology I would, but I’d rather not. Could you do me a favor?”

She shook her head, her frown deepening, her gaze assessing. Once again, I fought the urge to bolt even though I had no idea why. She was just a girl, a mere Mortal, I told myself. The problem was repeating that crap didn’t stop the effect she appeared to have on me.

“You’re shaking your head again. Did my question confuse you? Am I talking too fast, too slow, or is it me? I’ve been told my presence tends to, uh, throw people off.”

She crossed her arms, her chin shooting up, so she could stare down her nose at me. “No.”

The movement drew my attention to her chest. That I found her modest chest fascinating annoyed the Hel out of me.

“No to what?” I asked. I knew I was being rude, probably making a complete ass of myself, but I didn’t give a crap. It was self-preservation time.

“No, you didn’t confuse me. And no, I won’t do you a favor,” she said.

Forget this. I plucked wraparound sunglasses from my front pocket, slipped them on, and turned to leave. What in Hel’s Mist was wrong with me? Grown men trembled in my presence and begged me to spare their lives. Yet here I was running away from a woman. No, not a woman. A girl on the verge of becoming a woman all because she made me feel something I didn’t understand and couldn’t explain.

Steeling myself, I turned and gave her my most charming smile. The one that often got me play with women of all ages. “Okay, Raine with an E, what do I have to do to make you play nice?”

Interview And Giveaway With Author Amanda McIntyre

Today I have the very great pleasure of having author Amanda McIntyre stop by for an interview. She talks about her latest release Rugged Hearts and also answers some fun questions I put to her. Miss Amanda is also a giver and she is giving away a signed hardcopy ARC of her early e-book release, Rugged Heart. Details for the giveaway will be at the end of our interview. Without further ado I give you Amanda McIntyre.

1) Can you tell me a bit about your most recent release Rugged Hearts?

First, thanks Raquel for having me and I’d love to introduce you to the men of the “Kinnison Legacy and the women who will tame them” Rugged Hearts is Book I in the Kinnison Legacy series. It features Wyatt Kinnison, oldest brother and a man they say has a heart of stone, and the schoolteacher, Aimee Worth with more tenacity than sense, to win his rugged heart. This is a holiday set story, released early in e-book for the RT E-Expo and will be available in print August 1. Fate brings these two unlikely people together and places them in an extraordinary circumstance that challenges them both in ways unexpected. Redemption. Forgiveness. Romance. It’s all included in this poignant story that packs just enough heat to make you swoon;)

2) What do you find most challenging about writing?

Balancing writing time with my personal life. There are days I would love to be in the top of a lighthouse, alone with my computer and imagination and other times I have to walk away from the computer for a while to clear my head. In a perfect world, one compliments the other and there is never a struggle. But in reality, it can take a lot of planning to have that solitude it takes to write (at least for me.) You see people in coffee shops and what not, I’m not comfortable with that. I need my quiet, the blinders, except perhaps for music. No television, no disruptions. That’s said—I’m sitting here in this vacuum-like state wondering what bus hit me after spending the weekend having all my kids home for the holiday weekend and then they all leave at once. It’s like a backdraft.;)

3) I know most author's don't have a say on what their book cover looks like, so I am wondering, is that the same for you or do you get to tell them what you want your cover to look like?

I’ve had a number of publishers over the years. Most have what is called an “artist” form, where you describe in vivid details of your main characters. I’ve had input on some, none on others, But all in all there are only 1-2 that I can truly say I really disliked. The cover art ‘gods’ have been very kind to me overall. Rugged Hearts is one of the first covers that I commisioned done. Working with the talented Sahara Kelly at P & N Graphics, I found the photos I wanted and she helped me to create a brand for the look for the series. I am very pleased with how Books I and II have turned out and Book III’s cover shot I just recently picked up through P & N. My publisher had worked with P & N before and graciously allowed the cover art for Rugged Hearts. I think it’s brilliant!

4) If you were to throw a dinner party for anyone living or dead what 10 people would you invite and why?

Wow, that is REALLY a hard question--aside from my family—who are my greatest support and joy. Maya Angelou (just to listen to her wisdom), Oprah(how she makes her book club choices), Stef Ann Holms (to tell her how many times I’ve re-read Pink Moon) Sarah Ban Breathnach ( to discuss her books on authentic living) Heather Graham (because she’s brilliant and a classy lady) Dessie Marie Younger (my great-great grandmother, cousin to the Younger Brothers that rode with Jesse James, to get “her” side of the story.) I don’t frankly know if I’d be able to limit it to just to ten! I haven’t even included my music favs yet! LOL

5) Music, for me, is a big part of my life So I was wondering what type of music do you listen to and if so is it also a part of your writing (i.e. background noise, or a scene soundtrack)?

It’s HUGELY important in my life as well, especially in my writing. My taste in music is like my reading—very eclectic. Whether it’s one line that spins-off an entire book, or music that sets the tone for a particular scene. It just depends where my mood is at that day and time. Often times, silence is the blank canvas for my imagination to play.

6) Is there an author and/or author's who have inspired or influenced you in any way?

Far too many to name, I’m afraid. Not only in their writing, but more so for their personalities. Many an author has influenced my thoughts of them one way or another by their character.

7) On average how long does it take you to write one of your novels?

Anywhere from 2-3 months, perhaps longer depending on the genre, research and length involved. That is usually first draft.

8) If you could check off one or two things from your bucket list what would they be and why?

I’d love to stay at a real working horse ranch just for the experience. I’d love to take a paddle queen cruise from Chicago to New Orleans on the Mississippi. I have a whole lot more;)

9) There are some author's who write books together like P.C. Cast And Kristin Cast of The House Of Night Series, so my question to you is, if you could, who would you like to write a book with?

I’ve written several anthologies with other authors, but actually co-writing a book takes a great deal of trust and patience. I’m not entirely sure, since my writing has always been a solo gig (other than anthologies) that I’d have the ability to co-write an entire book. I have many friends who have done so and I applaud their skill. I make it a rule never to say “never”, but I’m not sure who’d that be off the top of my head.

10) What do you have coming up next (i.e. another book, or perhaps a book signings)?

Insofar as writing, I’m currently at work on the second book in the Kinnsion Legacy series, looking at a duet anthology for a Christmas story with a good friend of mine and I’m bouncing around a number of ideas for the upcoming summer. I just finished the RT Booklovers Convention and next for me, will be Lora Leigh’s Reader Weekend, Sept 19-22 and then it’s off to Nawlin’s for Heather Grahams Writers Weekend, Dec. 13-15.

Thanks Raquel! It was great to visit! I’d like to do something fun for your readers and so anyone in the USA or Canada, who leaves a comment here at your blog will be eligible for a signed hardcopy ARC of my early e-book release, Rugged Hearts!

Blurb:

Meet Wyatt, Dalton and Rein, the formidable men of the Kinnison Legacy and the women who will tame them!

“Characters with a depth of emotion that grab you by the heart and keep you on the edge of your seat...A must read!"~C.H. Admirand, Author of A WEDDING IN APPLE GROVE

Rugged, quiet, hardworking, Wyatt takes his position as head of the Kinnison family seriously. But the scars of betrayal by the women to whom he once trusted his heart now prompt his stark, simple game plan, and no one in hell is going to convince him any differently. What matters most, besides the welfare of his brothers, is to manage the ranch left to him and never risk his heart again to something as foolish as love—but after meeting Aimee, Wyatt begins to realize that a man should never say never to a determined second grade teacher.

When vivacious, resilient Aimee Worth loses her twin sister in a tragic accident, she makes the choice to live out her sister’s dream of teaching in the small mountain community called End of the Line, Montana, never suspecting she’d meet her Mr. Right in the middle of nowhere—he just doesn’t know it yet. Used to challenges, her spirit shatters the perceptions that have kept him isolated from living life beyond the ranch, proving to him that when it comes to love, the greatest risk is not taking one.

Runes Blurb:

Not only are she and her friends in danger, she must choose a side, but the wrong choice will cost Raine her life.
