Review Of ARC Slow Burn (Smoke Jumpers Series Book #2) By Anne Marsh

Slow Burn
Slow Burn (Smoke Jumpers Series Book #2) By Anne Marsh

  • Paperback: 320 pages
  • Publisher: Brava (March 26, 2013)
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 0758287860
  • ISBN-13: 978-0758287861
  • Source: Amazon.Com (link to purchase HERE)
  • Purchase: Barnes And Noble (link to purchase HERE)
  • Age: Adult 18+*

*I added the age restriction. The age restriction was not provided by Amazon.Com.

The second in Anne Marsh's pulse-pounding Smoke Jumpers series ripples with nail-biting suspense and sensuality, giving an inside look at a special brand of hero and the kind of woman it takes to win him.

It's not every man who'll risk his life jumping into the flames of a woodland inferno. Then again, Evan Donovan isn't like other men. No matter how great or how treacherous the challenge, he gets the job done. But when he agrees to look in on a friend's ex-wife after a suspicious brushfire, Evan learns that some jobs are too hot to handle...

Faye Duncan is a photographer on a mission, shooting fires for a magazine. Her first encounter with a wildfire isn't nearly as wild as her first night with Evan Donovan. Things really heat up when Evan learns she may have taken a photo of the arsonist setting the fires. Evan is determined to keep Faye safe - but first, he'll have to open up his heart...

This is my very first Anne Marsh book and I can tell you it so won't be my last. This book had me hooked from the very beginning and I so didn't want it to end. Even though this was book 2 of a series I didn't have any problem with the fact that I hadn't read Burning Up (Smoke Jumpers Series Book #1). You can quote me on the fact that I WILL be purchasing book 1, that is just how good I think Miss Marsh really is.

Faye Duncan has just come out of a three year marriage that was doomed from the start. She feels she needs a fresh start and some distance from her ex husband. Faye cashes in her 401K for a shiny red 1965 Corvette which will take her to Strong, California and her first magazine assignment.

Evan Donovan is a man of few words. He is loyal to his brothers and his smoke jumping team. Evan is the kind of guy you can always count on to get the job done but when it comes to ladies he is a bit lost for words. At this point in Evan's life he feels he has everything he needs, that is until his path crosses with Faye.

Upon meeting Faye, everything Evan once thought was the most important thing in his life, smoke jumping, his brothers, his mother Nonna, starts to blur around the edges for him. Faye brings new feelings to his life that he never knew he was missing, and he rather likes that. Faye on the other hand isn't looking for another relationship. She is looking for a grand adventure to go along with her first real magazine story. What they get is a red hot romance thrown in with a suspected arsonist who keeps lighting up Strong like a Christmas tree.

With an arsonist on the loose in Strong and possibly a Fire Fighter, Faye thinks she has her ticket to becoming a real photo journalist. Evan, ever the fair man, doesn't want to accuse someone and ruin their lives without hard core proof.

These are the situations in this story that kept me on the edge of my seat. The more Evan and Faye heated up the HOTTER Strong got in more ways than one. This book had everything. An honest to goodness hero, who did his job to keep people safe without regard for himself. A spunky girl who has let life slip by her for the last time, and a real low life who gets a kick out of starting fires and watching Strong's elite jump team put them out time and time again. On a scale from 1-10 I give Slow Burn a pulse pounding 10. It had all the elements a great story needs to keep my attention and keep me wanting for more. If you too are looking for a great story with sexy firemen, a mysterious arsonist, new beginnings, and just an all around great romance than you need to pick up a copy of Slow Burn. while you are out picking up your copy join me in picking up book 1 in the series Burning Up. Let Faye and Evan's love story leave you burning for more.

Review Of The Book Of Blood And Shadow By Robin Wasserman

The Book Of Blood And Shadow By Robin Wasserman

Reading level:
 Ages 12 and up
Hardcover: 448 pages
Publisher: Knopf Books for Young Readers (April 10, 2012)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 0375868763

It was like a nightmare, but there was no waking up. When the night began, Nora had two best friends and an embarrassingly storybook one true love. When it ended, she had nothing but blood on her hands and an echoing scream that stopped only when the tranquilizers pierced her veins and left her in the merciful dark. But the next morning, it was all still true: Chris was dead. His girlfriend Adriane, Nora's best friend, was catatonic. And Max, Nora's sweet, smart, soft-spoken Prince Charming, was gone. He was also—according to the police, according to her parents, according to everyone—a murderer. Desperate to prove his innocence, Nora follows the trail of blood, no matter where it leads. It ultimately brings her to the ancient streets of Prague, where she is drawn into a dark web of secret societies and shadowy conspirators, all driven by a mad desire to possess something that might not even exist. For buried in a centuries-old manuscript is the secret to ultimate knowledge and communion with the divine; it is said that he who controls the Lumen Dei controls the world. Unbeknownst to her, Nora now holds the crucial key to unlocking its secrets. Her night of blood is just one piece in a puzzle that spans continents and centuries. Solving it may be the only way she can save her own life.

I am a Roman Catholic, but I am by no means very active in my faith. With that being said, I truly enjoyed reading this book. I avoided reading The Da Vinci Code because I thought it would have a heavy religious presence. I was reading this book and was thinking this is probably similar to The Da Vinci Code and yet I am so hooked on Robin's book that I could barely put it down. The way she told this story kept you guessing and wondering about what exactly is the Lumen Dei and who could possibly be after them and willing to kill to get it.

In the beginning of this story I wanted Chris to be with Nora but alas that was not meant to be. Chris ends up dating Adriane, making the duo a trio whom, become inseparable. That is until Nora meets (Chris' roommate) Max, while they are translating Latin manuscripts, and falls for him. The four friends seem to have it all until the night Chris is murdered.

That night leaves Nora with one dead best friend, one friend who is catatonic, and one boyfriend missing and presumed the murderer. Now Nora is on a race against time to find her boyfriend, to prove his innocents, and find the real murdered of her best friend Chris before they all end up dead. Nora's search starts in Prague where mystery assailants dog Nora and Adriane at ever turn. But the more Nora finds out about the Lumen Dei the more Nora realizes for the sake of all humanity she must continue on her quest no matter what may happen.

There is so much more I want to say but anything further would ruin this nail biting book for everyone. This truly was an amazing book. On a scale from 1-10 I give The Book Of Blood And Shadow a BIG HUGE 10. This book was extremely hard to put down and never disappointed me. I encourage everyone to run out and pick up a copy and help Nora track down Chris' killer and find out what the Lumen Dei really is.

Cover Reveal Of Even In Darkness (Between Series Book #3) By Cyndi Tefft

Today I have the awesome pleasure of being part of a cover reveal for author Cyndi Tefft's third book in her Between Series, Even In Darkness. I can't tell you how excited I am for this new installment. The blurb for Even In Darkness sound spectacular. I so need to get my hands on a copy....^_^. Without further ado I give you the cover to Even In Darkness.
Isn't this cover AMAZING? This cover is visually stunning, in my opinion.

Even In Darkness Blurb:

I thought it was over, that all our trouble was behind us.

We had a fairytale castle wedding surrounded by family and friends. Aiden wore a dress kilt, looking so handsome it made my heart squeeze, and I floated on air in a white version of the ball gown he'd cast for me in Versailles. Flower girl, ring bearer, scottish ceilidh afterward-check, check, and check. It was perfect.

We were supposed to live happily ever after.

But that was before I walked in to find another woman in his bed, a demon with blood red eyes who'd disguised herself as me in order to get what she wanted most: a child from a heaven transporter.

And it was in that moment-watching my entire world crumble to the ground-that I knew.

This was not over. Not by a long shot.

Review Of Froggy Style A F***ed-Up Fairy Tale (F***ed-Up Fairytale Series Book #2) By J.A. Kazimer

Froggy Style (A F***ed-Up Fairy Tale #2)
Froggy Style A F***ed-Up Fairy Tale (F***ed-Up Fairytale Series Book #2) By J.A. Kazimer

  • Paperback: 288 pages
  • Publisher: Kensington (February 26, 2013)
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 0758269137
  • ISBN-13: 978-0758269133
  • Source: Amazon.Com (link to purchase HERE)
  • Purchase: Barnes And Noble (link to purchase HERE)
  • Age: 16+*

*Granted this is a romance novel and there is some sex in it I feel it is tastefully done and I feel a mature 16 year old could handle this book. Age restriction was added by me and not Amazon.Com.

Part of the hot trend of revamped fairytales--from the films Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Mirror, Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman to hit TV shows Once Upon a Time and Grimm--J.A. Kazimer's second raucous and irreverent book in the F***ed-Up Fairytale series puts a new spin on a French-kissing frog looking for his princess!

Jean-Michel La Grenouille has a lot going for him. He's a prince. Handsome. Filthy rich. And definitely charming. But he also spent his first few years as a fly-catching, pond-dwelling frog. All that saved him was the kiss of The One, the girl who saw nobility through his slimy form and fell into True Love. Okay, fine. Technically she was a toddler who tried to eat him, but whatever. The curse broke, and as long as he finds and marries her by his 30th birthday, he's a free man.

Trouble is, he's going to be 30 in ten days, and he's getting some seriously cold-blooded feet. He's pretty sure Princess Sleeping Beauty is The One. But his best man has some villain issues, his in-laws-to-be belong in a really special castle, and a smoking-hot lady biker named Lollie Bliss has him rethinking all this happily-ever-after stuff.

Oh, and he may have accidentally put out a hit on his blushing bride. Oopsie.

OMG, Froggy Style was just as PHENOMENAL as the first book in the series Curses!. Jean-Michel La Grenouille a.k.a. Kermit is such a funny character. I can't tell you the amount of times I literally laughed out loud. Don't get me wrong Princess Sleeping Beauty Vaniteuse and Lollie Bliss have some very funny things to say as well. I don't know how J.A. does it. She turns old fairy tale favorites into one heck of a hysterical story. She is a comic genius when she puts paper to pen (or fingers to keyboard....lol).

Jean-Michel is called the Frog Prince. When he was younger her was cursed and turned into a frog. When he was eight years old a young girl came and quite by accident broke his curse. Or so we think until some odd years later we find out that his curse will rear it's ugly head again when he turns thirty unless he marries the same girl who broke his curse, the ONE who is destined to be his ONE. Like most ruggedly handsome prince's Jean-Michel has been spending his time romancing all the fair damsel's he can find and, is of course, reluctant to marry Beauty but self-preservation wins out and he will do it, if it keeps him from turning back into a frog.

Princess Beauty spends most of her days sleeping and when she is not she spends that time chasing away would be suitors. To her, Jean-Michel is one more unwanted proposal. At every turn she does anything and everything to try and dissuade him from going through with their marriage.

In between all that is going on enters Lollie Bliss a Tattoo Artist at The Rose. When Jean-Michel enters her tattoo parlor he finds she is everything that makes him salivate with wanting. He will do anything and everything just to have her in his bed but that prize is hard won. In the midst of his conquest of Lollie he needs her help in calling off the hit he put out on Beauty (quite by accident) during a drinking binge he had the night before with his old friend R.J. Stiltskin. As in all great stories nothing goes right for our handsome prince and his hot cohort (or is she....lol).

There is SO much more I want to say but I feel it would totally ruin the story for everyone. J.A. Kazimer, in my opinion, has another great hit on her hands. I am so looking forward to the next book in her F***ed-Up Series. On a scale from 1-10 I give Froggy Style A F***ed-Up Fairy Tale a GIGANTIC 20. It is off my scale but that is a testament to the high caliber of story telling that J.A. gives to her readers. If you are looking for an insanely funny story, mishaps, froggy puns, or just an all around great story then I urge you to pick up a copy Of Froggy Style A F***ed-Up Fairy Tale (F***ed-Up Fairytale Series Book #2) By J.A. Kazimer. Let Jean-Michel, Sleeping Beauty, and Miss Lollie Bliss take you on the best adventure that even Jean-Michel's money can't buy....lol. For those who haven't read the first book in the series Curses! A F***ed-Up Fairy Tale while you are out picking up book two you should also grab yourself a copy of book one. My review for Curses! is below. I hope you enjoy both these books as much as I do.
