Review Of The Reunion Game By Jan Scarbrough

The Reunion Game
The Reunion Game By Jan Scarbrough

  • Pub. Date: February 2011

  • Publisher: Turquoise Morning Press

  • Sold By: Barnes & Noble

  • Format: NOOKbook (eBook)

  • Sales Rank: 190,438

Thirty-three-year-old Jane Smith's biological clock is ticking. But pickings are slim in Legend, Tennessee, until the fifteen year high school reunion gives Jane a second chance. Graham Winchester will be back in town.

In high school, Jane's shyness has stopped her from taking action. Now she's older, wiser and no longer afraid. Graham has moved to the big city and won't stick around after the reunion. He's a confirmed bachelor and happily-ever-after is not in his makeup. Yet, Jane must exorcise the demon Graham has become so she can get on with her life.

Switching places with her glamorous twin sister is just what she needs to get Mr. Most Likely to Succeed into bed and out of her heart.

Jan Scarbrough writes one hell of a book. When I read this book I had no idea it was part of a series. With that being said, I can honestly say that didn't seem to matter because I was never lost wondering who so and so was talking about. In short I am telling you, you could read this book as a stand alone and not miss a thing in the story. Jane and Graham are such great characters each with their own set of faults/flaws that make this a very enjoyable read. This story also had an unexpected kink in the scenario that I was pleasantly surprised by. Jane having a twin sister to switch places really ups the dynamic in this story. Who wouldn't want to have a twin sister to switch places with from time to time. Patty Duke did it in the Patty Duke Show, Hayley Mills did it in the Parent Trap, and Lindsay Lohan did it in the Parent Trap remake. Granted all of them were one person playing a dual role but you could never tell. That is what makes having a twin so appealing. BUT there is always a downside to everything in life and in reading this story you will find out Jane's and her reasons behind playing her little "game". I am so afraid to say something that will spoil this book for somebody who hasn't read it. This book has it all drama, angst, high school crush, best friends, a high school reunion, old friends, old lives/past behaviors, and an awaking to new possibilities. On a scale from 1-10 I give this book a 10 and encourage everyone 18+ who has had a crush on someone, never felt good enough, felt like they didn't know what their future held, or who just LOVES a really good story to pick up this book and get to know Graham and Jane. Now I am off to find the first three books in this series....^_^.

Welcome to Apple Trail, Arkansas!

If Shellie Chambers has to hear one more condescending comment from her mother about life or men, she might scream. So, she packs up and takes a trip to see her long-missed high school friend, Riley. He'll know exactly what she needs to loosen up. But instead of the girl-chasing jock she remembers from their youth, Riley’s gone country, keeping up a farm of his own.

Riley Hamilton has settled down on a farm his uncle left to him. Not the life he ever envisioned, but after getting a girl pregnant in college and then watching helplessly as the baby was aborted, he learned the hard way it was time to settle down. Shellie’s reentry into his life reminds of his wild past and it’s a fight to ignore the tempting woman she has become.

I loved this story. This is another story I read blind, meaning I didn't read the blurb first. I am so glad I didn't because when I found out about the reasons behind his transformation from skirt chaser to farmer I was like OMG. Riley is the kind of best friend ever girl should have. He gets you to live slightly on the edge without pushing you over it and causing you to loss yourself. Shellie is that girl some of you may know as, the one who has the rich mother that nothing her daughter does is ever good enough so therefore she has to micro-manage every aspect of her life. Riley, in Shellie's mother's eyes, would be considered from the other side of the tracks because his family was poor and they always had to work for everything they ever got. That is exactly what makes Riley and Shellie such great friends throughout their lives that is until Riley moves away and Shellie is left alone to deal with her mother with no relief in sight. Well, that is until Shellie decides to get away from it all and visit her old Friend Riley, whom she hasn't seen in six years, but has kept in touch with via e-mails. That is were they both discover things about the other person that they never noticed before. Even though this wasn't a very long book, which most of my friends know drives me nuts, this book didn't feel rushed at all. Which is what actually drives me nuts about most short stories. I got to know each character and also got great insight into their past and present. I didn't realize when I read this book that it was part of a series, but that fact didn't come into play because I never felt lost like most people would jumping into a series book. You could read this book as a stand alone which was awesome but now I do want to go back and read book one to get to know the first two characters in the series. On a scale from 1-10 I give this book a 10 and encourage everyone 18+ plus to read this story and not feel connect to these two people. I know I did because my best friend is the greatest guy I know (next to my hubby that is....lol) and he is someone that Riley reminds me of, which I love.

Estevan Vega When Colors Bleed Blog Tour

Cover Image
WHEN COLORS BLEED is a collection of short stories by the author of ARSON. This unique collection features three different stories with universal themes of love, loss, and regret. Watch the colors bleed. Read my review HERE or purchase from Amazon HERE.

Today I have the awesome pleasure of hosting day 3 of Estevan Vega's Blog Tour. I am super excited because today Estevan has agree to do a guest post on trying to balance writing and having an life outside of the writing/promoting world. Without futher ado I give you the emensly talented Estevan Vega.

A Most Dangerous Game by Estevan Vega

In order to imagine this story the way you’re supposed to, you have to understand it from the
perspective of a young boy. I was only ten when I realized this writing thing was kind of fun. Ten. Barely into my double digits. Hardly prepared to embrace puberty and all of the lovely untriumphs that would come with its blessed arrival. Ten. But hey, other impressive things have come with the letter ten, right? The Ten Commandments. The top ten best films of a bad boxoffice weekend. The ten-year anniversary of your favorite spou—band. So, perhaps my odds of fighting the writing machine were better than most thought.

Of course it goes without saying (but I’m so going to) that obtaining wealth and notoriety
were two obvious goals at the beginning. But the focus quickly shifted like quicksand to a mere survival of the game. It’s like that short story you read back in high school, the one where the rich man brings a skilled hunter to his island to be hunted. The whole story might mean nothing if the hunted couldn’t survive. The Most Dangerous Game, that’s the one. And survival, that’s the game. That’s what writing is all about. I’m not just talking about surviving the critics, and there are many, or the newspapers or the television and radio interviews. I’m also talking about surviving the writing game. The pressures of balance and dreams and skill. And it is all a game. One that writers often effortlessly sign up for but sometimes are reluctant to play.

But what does survival have to do with a twenty-something writer like me? Well, a lot.
When I was younger, and even mostly today, school work always seemed to get in the way. To be honest, I wanted to do something else, most times anything else. When I was younger, I wanted to play outside instead. When I was a little older, I wanted to sketch comic book characters. A little older, to write. Now I’m even a little older than that…but the want stays the same this time. And that’s good. That’s very good. But the question of balance can still sometimes mystify me. School work + social life +family life + writing +watching tons of cool movies + going to awesome rock shows…where does Estevan Vega find all the time to do these things? To be honest, I have no idea. I just write when I can. And lately, it’s a lot. Sometimes I push things aside or push people aside, and I don’t really mean to. But I know if I don’t write something will always find a way to pull me apart. I’ve learned more than a books-worth of an education over this last year spent writing and touring. And that knowledge and experience will take me to the next stage which will take me to the next stage and so on.

The facts are the facts. There isn’t enough in the world. Things, however small or great, will
gnaw at you for attention. These things sometimes have faces or ideas. These functions can sometimes pull you away from your work. And yes, sometimes they play the hero and the villain. Like many things, they have their moments of burden, but there are times when these things can offer you deliverance. You know when you’re stuck in traffic, and the GPS allows you to re-route or to take an exit and you blindly find a new way to get to the same place? Well, there are increments in the writing time spectrum that are very similar. You go in one direction and hit traffic or you get lost. You have to then re-route and find an alternate path. When writer’s block comes to play or laziness, I search for these alternate routes, and they are often helpful. You can’t stay there, but it’s nice to occasionally steal a vacation. Sooner, rather than later, if you’re a writer, you’ll be aching to find a computer fast.

There really is no secret formula to staying focused or keeping everything in balance.
Because the slightest shift can change everything. Writers and people in general, need to come to grips with the fact that like any job, you try to do the best you can with what you have and keep your priorities in perspective. For me, it’s never letting that ten-year-old boy die. As long as he’s alive in me, I can write. As long as he’s alive, there’s ambition and hope. I can juggle school work and book signings and long car rides where sometimes you sell out and other times you fall flat on your face and nobody’s there to catch you. I can juggle goals and fears. I can survive an opinion. I can survive rejection. I can survive whatever comes to hunt. And after all, isn’t that what this game is about?

Estevan Vega is the author of three novels (ARSON, THE SACRED SIN, and SERVANT
OF THE REALM) and a just-released short story collection WHEN COLORS BLEED. THE
SACRED SIN will be re-released in 2011 in a more complete, revamped edition. Also, look for book two in the ARSON series, out soon.

I got to meet Estevan, in person, this past December and getting to talk to him in person is the same as talking to him on Twitter or Facebook meaning his personality matches his persona, that of talking to one of your close friends. He is very approachable and one of those author's you are glad to know because he does some pretty amazing things with words....^_^. Everyone really should pick up a copy of When Colors Bleed and learn for themselves what a truly talented writer Estevan Vega is.

Interview And Giveaway With Author Laurie Bowler

Today I have the very talented author Laurie Bowler answering some questions and giving 2 lucky people an ebook copy of the first 2 books in her Moon Rising Series (Moon Rising and Sunrise To Sunset) and her first book in her Embracing Darkness Series (Serena Embracing Darkness). Yes, you have read it correctly TWO people will be getting ebooks copies of Moon Rising, Sunrise To Sunset, And Serena Embracing Darkness. I have read ALL three of them and have loved them. Nessy was a great character to get to know and Serena well she surprised me in a good way. Links to my review of all 3 books are after Laurie's Interview as well as the form to enter this giveaway.

1) What sparked the fire in you, to make you, want to become a writer?

I have been asked this question so many times. In November 2009 I woke up one day and decided I wanted to write a book. I settled down in front of my laptop in the middle of the noise my daughter was making, and began and since then I haven’t stopped but I feel I have developed in my writing skills and with each book that I produce.

2) A lot of the books you write have Vampires in them in one capacity or another. What is it about Vampires that seems to hold your interest?

I love writing about vampires, they intrigue me. Their strength and the way they have been portrayed in films and other books has always made me wish I could write about them for years, and now I am writing about them. Some of my newest works is going to be non vampire related because I want to try something a little different.

3) What books do you read for fun and which author's and genre's are your favorite?

I like reading Danielle Steele and Virginia Andrews, I could happily settle down for the evening with one of their books. Something that's totally different to paranormal is good for me to read and takes me away from my writing to be able to relax.
4) I always like to ask this question because I love to hear the different responses this question garners. If you could have a dinner party with any 5 people (living or dead) who would you invite and why?

WOW! Does it have to be 5?? I’d invite everyone if I could, fans included!!
I would have to say though and this is just a rough list Yourself of course because you are so awesome! You know I really can’t choose, I would prefer to invite everyone famous, alive or dead. I like to be friendly and have lots of people around me.

5) Some author's say their books are like their children and they could never choose a favorite so I put this question to you. Do you have a favorite story that you have written or which story is the most personal to you?

My favourite is one that’s due to be released titled ‘Depths of Darkness’. It was written a short while ago and I have added so many different ideas to the books characters. Some of the paranormal creatures are purely imaginative creatures that I have created and added to spice up the storyline. I enjoyed writing it and I had so much fun twisting the plot.

6) Do you have any advice for other aspiring author's out there?

Believe in yourself and as some of you may have heard me (or read) on other blogs stick to something that I remind myself of every single day. You can't please everyone with your stories, but if you gain a good review from just one person then you have yourself a fan for life and you have succeeded!

7) Is there any one thing or series of items that you need in order to sit down and write?

No, only my laptop, all of my writing and ideas just flow together the minute I sit down with my laptop. Chapters and characters just begin to appear and before I know it I’ve created an entire book.

8) When you are not writing what do you do for fun?

I like to see my friends, take part in interviews such as this and try to do as much promotional work as I can. I love spending time with my small family, and I enjoy trying to bake cakes with my daughter and we make as much mess as we possibly can!!

9) How do you feel about using social media networks (such as Facebook and Twitter to name a few) to connect with your readers?

I am connected to facebook under author Laurie Bowler and twitter under laurieAuthor. I think they are a great idea to keep readers up to date with new ideas, book signings etc...

10) What does the future hold for you book wise (any upcoming releases or book signings things of that nature)?

I have many books being released this year and I am so excited because the 3rd book to the Moon Rising series is being released and I have had enormous fun writing about Nessy and the Gulons!! I am currently writing a digital short story series called Across the City which is about vampires, chapter one, two and three are available for download from amazon. Be on the look out for Depths of Darkness, Volcan Knights, Skelthra and many more titles that are either being completed or are in editorial at the moment. It's such an exciting time. Also you can head on over to goodreads.com and add me as a friend, I am an active author there and I tend to blog as much as I am able too about everything that I take part in.

My Review Of
Moon Rising
My Review Of Sunrise To Sunset

I can't thank Laurie enough for stopping by and agreeing to let me interview her even though I know she has a very busy schedule. If you would like to win Laurie's three books just fill out this
FORM. This giveaway is international (as long as you are able to accept ebooks).

*Added the age restriction myself because I feel the themes of these stories may not be geared towards a younger audience.

is a collection of short stories by the author of ARSON. This unique collection features three different stories with universal themes of love, loss, and regret. Watch the colors bleed.

BABY BLUE: Casey never had any luck with men, even though she was employed by one of the finest clothing stores in New England and saw attractive, “sure kinds” strolling through her section every day like clockwork. At twenty-three years old, she has given up on her dreams of the spotlight, of finding love, and of ever getting out of the small town she reluctantly calls home. But one rainy afternoon, Thomas Rayford, a very unusual and kind stranger, stumbles into her life looking for an odd, baby blue suit. One thing is certain: Casey, the twenty-three-year-old dreamer stuck in a line, will never be the same.

VANILLA RED: From his cold hell in Block C, a nameless man unfolds this twisted tale. This is the story of a man who becomes something else. A man who had a father once. A man who loved once. “They want to know why. They want a reason,” he confesses. “But nobody likes the reasons. They’re like unwanted children or cancers with no cure. A reason is a justification, an excuse so we can’t be blamed. But I know what it is I’ve done, and there is no reason that can take it back.” So begins Vanilla Red, a confession, a story, a prayer, or perhaps a drip of dark truth in the batter of humanity. Take a look inside and tell me what color you see.

THE MAN IN THE COLORED ROOM: Colin awakens in a room, jittery, afraid, and confused. He knows not how he got here, who brought him, or why. And the only thing waiting for him is a hot cup of coffee and a seemingly flawless room that bleeds colors. As an architect, he understands that no room is perfect, but somehow this anomaly has crawled through the cracks and pushed the limits of perfection. No seams. No lines. No windows. Enter a bald man in a suit. Once he steps through the door, he makes the colors disappear with the push of button. His name is Jack, and he claims to be a friend. Still unsure of anything, Colin wages war with his mind, with a dark truth he isn’t ready to accept, and with Jack. In the moments that follow, Jack asks Colin a series of questions, questions that will reveal the where, the how, and the why of his arrival.

I applaud Estevan for writing three amazing short stories. My favorite was Baby Blue because it made me cry and it just made me take stock of my life. All three stories, in my opinion, reminded me of possible episodes of The Twilight Zone. Vanilla Red is a great retrospect into the mind of a disillusioned soul. The Man In The Colored Room ends up being a curious surprise with a twist for an ending. I read this book without reading the blurb because I wanted to read these stories blind, so to speak. I had no clue about love, loss, and regret being a universal theme within the three stories, so I enjoyed coming to that conclusion on my own. I would loved to see these stories played out on t.v. because if they had such a profound effect on me just from reading it, I can only imagine how much more of an impact it would have upon seeing it with my own eyes. Estevan has another hit on his hands, first with Arson and now with When Colors Bleed. To be so young and yet so uniquely talented in his writing is such a great ability and a credit to his craft. On a scale from 1-10 I give this book a 20 because it is such a refreshingly different experience for me that I feel I have gained such a great appreciation for short stories. The macabre like feel of the stories didn't hurt either. I think everyone 18+ (only because of the themes in the stories) should pick up a copy of When Colors Bleed and discover the greatness that is Estevan Vega for themselves.

A.M. Robinson wanted to stop by and share her Vampire Bat Cookie Recipe with everyone. Don't forget at the bottom of this post you will find my secret code word for this days blog stop.

Cooking and Crafting with Vampire Crush

Since you are reading a book blog, I am going to assume that you are a big fan of books. How many times have you thrown a book across the room and said, “Great book, but why didn’t it come with a cookie! Why do they never come with cookies?!” . . . Never? Hmm. I am going to have to reevaluate some things. But in the meantime, I wanted to share a recipe for Vampire Crush Sparkle Bat Cookies! They are fashioned after the sparkle bat on the jacket like so.

Tada! Astute readers might notice that it is actually a gummy sugar bat and not a sparkly bat cookie, but candy-making requires more equipment than the mixer and rolling pin so I am cheating just a little bit.

You will need:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons unsweetened Dutch-process cocoa powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
1 1/2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

For those of us who like to think in pictures or see food all lined up in a row:

Step One: Sift flour, cocoa powder, salt and cinnamon into a bowl.

Step Two: Place butter and confectioners' sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. If you don’t have a paddle attachment, never fear! It works just as well with a handheld mixer and regular attachment as long as you pause every 30 seconds or so to de-butter the beaters.
Mix on medium-high speed until pale and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Mix in egg and vanilla. Reduce speed to low. Gradually mix in flour mixture. Once it’s looking like dough (see pic below) form into a ball and wrap in saran wrap. Refrigerate until firm, at least 1 hour and up to overnight.

Step Three: Roll out chilled dough to 1/4 inch thick and then cut out cookies with your bat-shaped cookie cutter. (If the dough starts to stick, re-chill for fifteen minutes and then start again). You could also take a page from my book and volunteer this task to your assistant while you stand on the sidelines taking pictures and making helpful comments.

Step Four: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake cookies until crisp, about 10 to 12 minutes.
Step Five: As soon as you have removed the cookies from the oven, add sparkly sprinkles of choice for ultimate stickage. Afterwards, let cool completely on sheets on wire racks.
Step Six: EAT THEM EAT THEM ALL. *cough* I mean: Enjoy them and eat responsibly.

Because of some, er, techinal difficulties, this was actually my third time making these. I wanted to share a few special Dos and Donts I learned along the way.
DO remember your bat cookie cutter. No matter what sort of artistic genius you think you may possess, I promise you that it is not as easy as you think it will be to cut out a bat using only a butter knife! If you intentionally mean to make deformed bats, disregard this!

DON’T overcook the cookies. It will leave your bakeware looking as though it was attacked by Batman.

DO watch out for Kitten Vultures. They wait until your back is turned and then attack!

Today I have the awesome pleasure of having author Raine Delight as a guest on my blog. Fantasies Unbound came out March 4,2011 and I couldn't be happier for Raine. I have allowed her free reign so she is guest posting, answering some questions, giving you an excerpt to Moonlight & Magic (PG-13), and to put a cherry on the top of this day a giveaway. If you would like to purchase Fantasies Unbound click HERE. Raine is offering one lucky commenter (18 or older) a $10.00 Gift Card to All Romance Ebooks. All you have to do is answer Raine's questions (What series do you enjoy reading and why? Are there any out there you want to recommend?) in the comments for your chance to win. Giveaway ends March 9th at 11:59p.m. Raine will post the winner in the comments on March 10th so please make sure to leave your address. So now just kick back, relax, and I hope you have some fun on this ride. Raine I now give the floor to you.

Raine Delight is a pseudonym of a self professed book lover and after one too many TSTL characters, decided to see if she could write something a little better. Well many drafts later, Devon Falls series came to together. Check out my book pages to see what is going on with me. My muse is a male nut who likes to leave me to go sip mai tais on the beach and leave me foundering for words; though eventually he takes pity on me and gets my words flowing and characters start settling down.

Personal notes: I live with my own boytoy and two kids. I love Johnny Depp movies and enjoy hiking, reading and watching movies with my family.

Series vs. non-series books

I got a question from a reader the other day asking why do I write series books. Well that question stopped me in my tracks a bit. I never thought I would write series books but somehow, someway, my muse decided to run with it and today, I have one series with another on the way.

What do I love about writing series books? The chance to revisit beloved characters, the chance to explore the world I created more and to see what else will come to the muse to write about. There is no one thing that draws me to series books but the chance to see what else I can explore is a certain draw in MHO. I love seeing where my imagination can take me-from shifters, dream walkers to demons and more. The sky is the limit in my eyes.

Devon Falls was my first series of novellas and one I am particularly proud of. Originally to be only two books, it morphed into more than ten books once I settled down and saw where the muse was going. I was flabbergasted-ten books! I almost fainted but with four founding families to cover, it added up. I am currently redoing the Devon Falls books for my new publisher, Secret Cravings Publishing and they will publish Fiery Magic (Book 3), Haunting Magic (Book 4) & Moonlight & Magic (Book 5) in 2011 with the rest of the series to be coming soon after then I am taking a break for to concentrate on a few other projects then back to finish it off in 2012. *wipes brow* that is a lot of books, if I say so myself.

Next up is a new series, one I am enjoying immensely. Club Fantasy is a paranormal BDSM club run by a half-demon of lust and his lover. I am aiming for this to be a trilogy at first but then we can see what happens after that. Who doesn’t love demons, romance, bdsm aspects? I know I do. *grins* Then there is my new series I just started that is called Destined Mates. The premise is there is someone for everyone and this time destiny decides who your mate is. The first book has a cranky alpha were-panther who find that his destined mate is none other the witch next door…the sexy, aggravating witch who drives him absolutely batty. Plus she hates all shifters after her mom and sister were killed by rogue wolf shifters. Can destiny get these two past the walls they erected to fall in love?

Plus another new series I just sold to Shadowfire Press takes the premise of there is someone for everyone and I toss in some of my favorite paranormal/fantasy creatures (Were-panthers, witches, vampires, elves, etc) and have them find out their destined mate(s) are not who they think it should be. The first book is coming Nov. 2011 and has a surly, alpha were-panther finding that his destined mate is the next door neighbor-a witch who hates all things were. *grins* Can you see the sparks fly when destiny/fate decides these two are perfect for one another?

This isn’t to say I don’t enjoy writing non-series books. I currently have one coming out at Shadowfire Press called Fantasies Unbound-about a Fae Prince searching for his mate except when he finds her, she is human and that is not allowed. Then I have a story that is a bit of Firefly and a dash of Pirates of the Caribbean that I created called Space Pirates: Bounty for Shadowfire Press. It has the Earth dying and alien slavers stealing the last remaining humans. I like to mix it up and switch from series to non-series books but as writers know, if a plot bunny attacks, you never know where it may lead.

This is just the tip of the iceberg for me. I have other ideas for books (hunky elves anyone?) and who knows, maybe they will morph into a series as well. In the meantime, I read some wonderful series from talented authors (Yasmine Galenorn, Deborah Cooke, Jenna Black, JD Robb, etc) and settle in for my own personal reading pleasure while I recharge the muse.

My questions to you- What series do you enjoy reading and why? Are there any out there you want to recommend?

Check out Raine’s website (http://authorrainedelight.com) and blog (http://rainedelightbooknook.blogspot.com) for more information her books, contests and other fun stuff.

1) Can you tell me a bit about your most recent release?

Well I have a release of a previous released book that was reedited, expanded and retitled for my new publisher Shadowfire Press. It was originally called Fairy Kisses & Magical Dreams but now is titled Fantasies Unbound.

Fantasies Unbound is about a woman cynical on love, a fae prince who needs to find his soul mate or his mother will arrange a marriage for him and a little help from an unexpected place.

Here is the blurb of Fantasies Unbound:

Can destiny lead a Fae Prince to the one woman who can complete him mind, body and soul?

Prince Aryan has searched his world for the one woman that is his destined mate but has just about given up when he is lead to the human world. Even though it is forbidden to fall in love with one, he finds Skye Andrews completely delectable and wonders if she is his chosen love.

Skye Andrews has just about had it with men. After another disastrous date, she turns to her Aunt who gives her a love potion to try. With a magic spell and a mysterious face haunting her waking days, will Skye be able to find the love she is looking for? Can these two make it work or will their differences tear them apart?

2) For any readers who may not have read any of your books, can you just give us a little sneak peak into your world (i.e. the type of genre you write, type of stories you like to write....etc)?

Sure…right now I am knee deep in space. *laughs* I currently have one series, a few stand alone books and several new books coming in 2011 and beyond. I primarily write paranormal contemporary but am branching out into space (hence my statement above) and manlove.

If you like paranromal, then check out the following series/books-

Devon Falls Series (Coming out at Secret Cravings Publishing in 2011)

A little town where paranormals live and find love. Five books will be released (books 1-4 are previously published and have been expanded/re-edited for Secret Cravings) and fifth book is a brand new story, never before seen story.

Then coming at end of 2011, two new introductions into two paranormal series:

Destined Mates (book 1 coming in Nov. 2011 at Shadowfire Press)

What happens when destiny decides who your soul mate is? Why utter chaos of course. There is someone for everyone…..and it may not be who you think it may be. :)

Club Fantasy (First book out 2012 at Shadowfire Press)

What happens when your deepest, darkest fantasies want to be let out and you have no idea where to turn? Is there a place where you can find several partners to enjoy, be punished by your master and enjoy it, or be able to dominate the man of your dreams?

Welcome to Club Fantasy where all your fantasies will be fulfilled in whatever manner you desire. Each room delivers a different fantasy and whatever you desire will claim you: heart, body and soul! Once you walk through those doors, be prepared to let those fantasies come alive!

Then I have a June release coming from Shadowfire Press. Think Pirates of the Caribbean’s Captain Jack mixed with alittle Firefly and you get Space Pirates. *grins*

3) I know from your bio why you started writing but did you secretly always want to be one and felt that was your chance?

Actually I wanted to be a librarian. LOL I love to read and always seem to have a book with me. I felt this was the perfect choice but life has a way of changing a few things and I didn’t realize I had it in me to write until a few years ago. :)

4) How much of yourself, if any, do you put into your characters?

Oh man…..there is something of me in my heriones of some kind. Be it they are cynical, unlucky in love or physically have something of me (petite, full figured, etc).

5) Do you have a favorite couple from your Devon Falls Series?

Oh man…..I adore Jaxon and Rodrick from Haunting Magic. These two are pure combustion when they walked on to the scene and my muse was determined they would be together. *grins* Needless to say, Rod and Jax put up quite a fight.

My next favorite couple is a tie between Damien and Alicia from Fiery Magic and my upcoming Wip right now called Yuletide Magic but that title will change soon, Mandy and Grady. Secrets and magic abound at Winter Solstice in Devon Falls.

6) Do you find it hard to come up with new and exciting sex scenes or is there some scenes that you and your muse just don't agree about?

In a way yes. I try to keep things fresh but some days it is a struggle to make those scenes fit just right in a manuscript. My muse doesn’t really care too much on what I write in regards to this but sometimes, as in Red Hot Magic, the scene felt right to add a light bondage scene and was totally unexpected. :) I try to push the envelope a bit but not enough where even I am uncomfortable writing it.

7) Music, for me, is a big part of my life So I was wondering what type of music do you listen to and is music a muct when you are writing?

I love music and you can tell in some of my books what I am listening to at the writing of it. One has Josh Groban in it, another michael Buble and still another had a Bon Jovi song inspire the whole storyline. I need music to help keep the muse calm and me relaxed. *grins*

8) If you could throw a party with any five people (living or dead) who would you pick and why?

Oh man….Elvis for one and it has to be young Elvis, no old, fat Elvis. Then Cleopatra, Albert Einstein, Johnny Depp and maybe Czar Nicholas of Russia. I love history and heck Johnny is there for eye candy. :)

9) What are at least five things you have on your bucket list and have you done any of them?

Well, I don’t have a bucket list per say but I do want to take my kids to San Antonio, Texas where my daughter was born to show them the history of the Alamo and all that I love about this town then maybe go on a cruise and learn to snorkel.

10) I have noticed that you have a lot of books in the works. Are you the type of writer that always has to be writing or do you write for a certain amount of time and then say that's enough and take a hiatus?

Actually the beginning of 2011 had me changing publishers so about five of those releases this year are re-releases. I just added to them a bit and polished them a bit brighter. What I love to do is get going on an idea and see if it pans out. *grins* I took most of 2010 off due to being overstressed and frustrated. Writers block hit me hard during these trying times and once things got a bit easier in the new year, I have felt my muse sit up and yell "Hooray!" :)

11) I know you have read series from Yasmine Galenorn, Deborah Cooke, Jenna Black, and JD Robb to name a few but is there one series that you just love and think it is a must read for everyone?

I adore JD Robb/Nora Roberts. If you love interesting characters and tight storylines, then she is the author to look at. I so want to be her when I grow up. *grins*

Another author I admire and love is Bertrice Small. She is alegend in this business and she keeps publishing some wonderful books each year. I read anything she has out repeatedly. Another is Gena Showalter. She is amazing and so nice. I love her different series/genres and her Young Adult books are really good.

12) What do you have coming up this year/future (in terms of writing and possible appearences)?

Oh man…lots are coming this year. :)

Paranormal/Shifter (Were-tiger) Erotic Romance

Can a were-tiger convince one stubborn woman that she is his for all time and show her that falling in love is just as sinful as a chocolate kiss?

Dixie Sinclair has watched her cousins all fall in love and now she wants the same. Dared to go to the annual Masquerade ball, Dixie finds the one thing she desires: love...one problem...can she trust that it will last after that one night?

Michael Barnes is a rare white were-tiger who was thrown out of his pride long ago for a trumped up crime, Michael roams the world searching for the one place to call home. Finding that peace in Devon Falls, he finds the one woman who stirs him like no other. Can he convince Dixie that she can trust him forever?

Unedited excerpt so please excuse the mistakes:

A smiling fairy moved by him, a come-hither look in her eyes when they landed on him made him smile a little as he continued watching, waiting for Dixie to show up. Damien mentioned she was on her way a litlle bit ago had him anxious. He was eager to see her and see if the sparks he felt between them was still there. He hoped he could recognize her in the mass of witches, fairies, demons and other costumed guests that was rapidly filling the place.

"So Michael, how come you aren't wearing your mask?" A voice came from behind Michael as he turned to see who was there tense with something even he couldn't name. Spying Rod, Damien's twin and wolf shifter had him relaxing a bit.

"Just waiting is all, Rod." He said as he took a good look at Rod's costume. Trying to stifle the laugh as he took in Rod's pained expression as he adjusted the tights he was wearing and the hat he was wearing slid down more, he asked "So are you supposed to be this pretty? Won't Jax be mad if you outshone her legs in that get up?" Snickering at the way Rod tried to get the offending hat back where it was supposed to be-on his head not his drink-made him relax even more and laugh harder. With another snicker, he finished his drink and put in a passing waiter's tray while he scanned the room again for Dixie and his heart dropped when he didn't spot her. Turning back to Rod he tried to not to laugh at the disgruntled look on the wolfs face.

"Shut up you jack ass. At least you don't have to wear tights. Sheesh, can you imagine how hard she laughed when she finally saw me in this get up. I swear that infernal female of mine is going to get her ass paddled for thinking it would be great to be Robin Hood and Maid Marion for Halloween." Rod said as the hat slid down again drawing a growl from Rod as he shoved it back so far it fell into the potted plant behind him.

Michael took one more look at Rod and laughed again, "Well, let me be the one to say this that you look good in tights. Maybe you can do a turn on the catwalk of something."

Then a feeling spead through his body, one that had him whipping his head around quickly, nostrils flaring as his body went rigid and the tiger roared with desire inside his mind, determined to claim the one woman he and his tiger wanted to mark. Shaking his head, he turned to face the crowd and tried to see where she was. Scanning the crowd, he felt the magic of the tiger grow stronger as he spied a black lace clad woman with cat ears in the corner, watching everything, smiling at someone passing by. MINE was what rolled through his system as he knew with no shadow of a doubt that his woman was here as he put on his mask, he was determined to claim her, once and for all. Barely hearing Rod's bye through the haze that consumed him- his eyes glowed golden yellow and his body felt tight with a need to mark and mate with his female. This raging lust that ran through him was making him so hard he ached. His body felt like it wasn't his anymore and as he made his way to the other side of the ballroom, he knew his tiger was in control at the moment and as he tried to still the panic that made his stomach go in knots. He just hoped he wasn't wrong about Dixie because his time he was going to jump and hope to god he didn't get crushed yet again.
